AdoptAClassroom.org – Providing much-needed school supplies to local teachers and students nationwide
For the past 5 years, Burlington has proudly partnered with AdoptAClassroom.org during the back-to-school season. AdoptAClassroom.org provides funding to teachers so that they can purchase the classroom materials they need for students to learn and succeed. Since approximately 96% of teachers report paying for school supplies out of their own pocket, spending on average $750 of their own money each year, Burlington wanted to help offset this burden and support teachers nationwide. Over the last 5 years, Burlington has collected more than $8 million during its annual in store fundraising campaign. Donations benefit teachers and students in Burlington store communities, with more than 1 million students and over 44,000 classrooms being supported over the last 5 years.
Burlington Coat Drive
Burlington and the national non-profit organization Delivering Good, join together to keep neighbors warm through the Burlington Coat Drive. Each year during the holiday season, Burlington customers, associates, and vendors donate new and gently worn coats at their local Burlington store locations across the country. Through Delivering Good, coats are distributed locally to those most in need within each store community. To date, the coat drive has collected more than 2.3 million coats! Thanks to all those who continue to donate and help spread the gift of warmth.
Burlington Toy Drive
While Burlington locations stateside are collecting warm coats during the holiday season, its store locations in Puerto Rico are collecting new toys to benefit Fundacion Infantil Ronald McDonald, a local non-profit organization which creates, finds and supports programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families living in Puerto Rico. Since the Toy Drive commenced in 2013, more than 75,000 toys have been collected and donated.
The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
Burlington is proud to be the #1 National Corporate Partner and Honored Friend of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Societ (LLS). Over the 18 years, Burlington has raised more than $46 million for lifesaving research and blood cancer treatment through generous customer and associate donations. Beginning in 2020, funds raised in all Burlington store locations nationwide will not only support LLS’s mission, but also support their Children’s Initiative – helping children and their families impacted by blood cancer. Each year, Burlington honors young, local cancer survivors nationwide through unique surprise and delight celebrations. In addition, Burlington associates nationwide participate in Light the Night events within communities across the country.
To further our strong commitment to inclusion and diversity, we announced a new community partner, UNCF. This new partnership will help students achieve their dreams of higher education. From April 5 to May 10, 2021, we will host an in-store fundraising campaign encouraging customers to donate a dollar $1 or more at checkout. Funds collected will provide scholarships for students of color in financial need to attend colleges nationwide, and support UNCF’s 37-member Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
Natural Disaster Relief Efforts
When unfortunate natural disasters occur, Burlington responds. Whether it’s international or domestic, Burlington finds a way to help. Over the past several years, the world has seen devastating hurricanes, earthquakes, tornados, and tsunamis. As a result, Burlington and its customers have donated funds and new merchandise to non-profit organizations including The American Red Cross,The Salvation Army and Delivering Good, assisting those most in need.
Charitable Donation Policy
Burlington works exclusively with Delivering Good to make merchandise donations to charitable non-profit 501 c3 organizations. Burlington does not make monetary grants/donations, donate gift cards nor provide merchandise for philanthropic fashion shows, auctions, raffles, or any other fundraising activities.
